Why We Love Fusion™ Stain and Finishing Oil

Originally formulated for floors, Fusion SFO has become a favorite among furniture refinishers for its durability, versatility, and ease of use. It enhances raw wood grain, adds depth over painted surfaces, and even doubles as a glaze for detailed work.

At Vintage Sweetheart Designs, we use it to create everything from rustic farmhouse finishes to sleek, modern looks. Whether you want to protect a tabletop or bring out the character in a vintage dresser, this product delivers a smooth, flawless finish every time.

How to Apply Fusion™ Stain and Finishing Oil

Step 1: Stir Thoroughly
Before starting, stir the product well to evenly distribute the pigments and oils. Avoid shaking to prevent bubbles.

Step 2: Apply to Raw Wood or Painted Surfaces
Use an application pad or lint-free cloth for smooth, even coverage. Apply in the direction of the wood grain. While SFO is designed for raw wood, it can also be applied over painted surfaces for subtle depth and a professional finish.

Step 3: Build Your Color and Sheen
To deepen the color or increase the sheen, apply additional coats. Allow each coat to dry for approximately 9 hours before reapplying. Each layer builds richness and protection.

Step 4: Allow to Cure
Fusion SFO takes about 10 hours to cure fully. Avoid heavy use or placing objects on the surface during this time.

💡 Pro Tip: Wipe off any excess within a few minutes of application for the smoothest finish — SFO should never feel tacky once dry.
